Gaia graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Psychology, with a concentration in Neuroscience. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked at the SomNeuro Lab under Dr. Rebecca Spencer and Dr. Gina Mason. There, she used PSG and behavioral methods to conduct human research on the role of morning and afternoon naps on infants’ memory and completed her thesis on the role of morning nap deprivation on emotionality. Now as a research assistant at the Dystonia and Speech Motor Control Lab, Gaia is involved in clinical trials of novel therapeutic interventions and research projects with various dystonia patients. In the future, she plans to pursue an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with aspirations to become a surgeon and continue to work in the neuroscience field.
