Mikayla received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience from the Pennsylvania State University. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked in Dr. Jenae Neiderhiser’s Gene X Environment Interplay Throughout the Lifespan Lab where she collected and managed data examining GXE correlations in pairs of twins. Mikayla has also guided and presented two conceptual research projects, each on the topic of developmental neuroscience. As a research assistant in the Dystonia and Speech Motor Control Lab, Mikayla is now involved in the clinical trials of novel therapeutic interventions for patients with laryngeal dystonia. In the future, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience, with aspirations to become a professor and researcher in the field of developmental neuropathology.
